indiegogo - scam - don't lose your money
Rocket eBike (over half a million dollars funded via indiegogo.com) appears to be a total scam.
Indiegogo is not accepting ANY responsibility OR liability for your losses. You could lose $10,000 and there is NOTHING that you could do to get your money back. Calling your bank/credit card to file a dispute, contacting your attorney general, hiring your own private attorney, complaining to the bbb.org or etc. NONE of those things will get your money back.
I know because I have been burned by a different indiegogo and nobody gave a Fv<k. I lost money, permanently, but not this large of an amount.
Anyhow, here are just a FEW reasons why I believe they are a scam:
- The "guy" responsible for it all calls himself "georg" (no e). Nowhere does he ever list his last name. Maybe because pronounced backwards is "grow (nest) egg"?
- The only photograph of his is 1) LOW-def; 2) Black and white; 3) From afar; 4) Where he is wearing ski goggles and a hat. Hiding from people that will want to hunt you down, Mr. no last name?
- He has multiple titles within the company "Manager," "CEO," "Founder," etc. Pick one. Make it sound legit. And stick with it.
- The description of the bike does not match the bikes shown in the video.
- They don't give the slightest of damns about their customers, as observed by a woman on facebook with the comment, "I would never buy from a company that has their models riding fast bikes but not wearing helmets". It actually says a lot more than you might initially think. Think deeper about it before parting with so much of your hard earned money.
- They list two locations but no addresses. Curious, I asked for clarification. I was provided the address of a Physical Therapist in California. Don't know if that's a sign that you will be hurting physically or just financially once they are done with you.
- They banned me from commenting via fb instead of simply addressing my simplest of concerns.
- It has been said by "ebike experts" that Bafang does not have a regenerative motor. Yet, they advertise regenerative motors on these things "by Bafang" & mechanical brakes are shown, not hydraulics as advertised.
- The eBike experts that I consulted also stated that there is "no way" that these bikes could ride 100 mi on a single charge.
- They advertise "full-suspension". The model shown on their videos does not have full-suspension.
- I found out about it by being suckered in by a facebook ad. Google indicates tons of comments about people being scammed by facebook ads, including ebike ones.
- I googled "rocket ebike scam" and found others having other concerns, just as frightening as the ones shown above.
You have 10 days to get a refund.
I'm spending my money elsewhere!! Rather get something good than risk getting nothing.
ReplyDeleteCostco has an excellent selection of ebikes at major discounts.
